The distance seemed further than would ever be scaled, she felt her one moment to shine had ignited, as predicted, and burned all the way to the brittle, ashed wick. A finale, in a sense, she said her goodbyes, her goodnights, and prepared to leave once more, in economy and simplicity so as not to waste anyone’s time. The way of things had been guessed correctly before, and would seem so to prove true again, and she did not want to get her hopes up, but, for possibly the last time.
